Norwich — Melissa Ashley Jones and Leigh Ryan Appleby were married on Dec. 31, 2016, at the The Society Room of Hartford in Hartford, Conn.

Justice of the Peace Deborah Jones, the bride’s mother, officiated at the ceremony. The bride’s sisters, Bethany Flaherty and Lauren Dombrowski, were the co-matrons of honor. Chelsea Katzenberg and Elizabeth Appleby were the bridesmaids, and Erik Jassen was the “bridesman.” Nick Krawiec was the best man. Dave Barrette, Nate Osheyack and Ryan Sanders were the groomsmen.

The bride wore her late grandmother’s wedding dress from 1948. A reception followed at The Hartford Room.

The bride is the daughter of Deborah Jones, of Winsted Conn., and Mark Jones and stepdaughter of Joanne Aliano, also of Winsted. She graduated from The Gilbert School in Winsted in 2004 and earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 2008. She earned a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Connecticut in West Hartford, Conn., in 2013 and is employed as a senior management analyst for the town of Greenwich, Conn.

The bridegroom is the son of Mary Ryan and Terry Appleby, of Norwich. He graduated from Hanover High School in 2005 and earned a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., in 2010. He is employed as the communications director for the Connecticut Democratic Party in Hartford.

The couple honeymooned in New Zealand and live in Milford, Conn.
