Claremont, N.H. —
Father Majka was born on Dec. 3, 1943, in Ohringen, Germany and was ordained a priest on May 20, 1972, by the Most Reverend Ernest J. Primeau, S.T.D., at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. Father Majka studied at the St. Hyacinth College, Granby, Mass. and then he completed his ecclesiastical studies at St. Hyacinth Seminary in Granby, Mass. and Seraphicum, The North American College, Rome, Italy.
Father Majka served as associate pastor of St. Christopher Parish, Nashua; St. Mary Parish, Dover; St. Bernard Parish, Keene; St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Nashua; Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, Hampton; St. Patrick Parish, Pelham; St. Christopher Parish, Nashua; St. James Parish, Portsmouth and St. Michael Parish, Exeter. He also served for a short time as administrator of Immaculate Conception Parish, Penacook.
Father Majka was appointed as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish, Troy; St. Joseph Parish, Center Ossipee; Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Pittsfield, St. Matthew Parish, Whitefield, and currently as pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Claremont.
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at noon, the Rite of Reception of the Body will take place at St. Joseph Church in Claremont. Father Majka will lie in repose in the church until 7 p.m., when a Requiem Mass will be celebrated in the presence of his body. On Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, Father Majka will lie in repose at St. St. Joseph Church, 58 Elm Street, Claremont from 9 a.m until 11 a.m. The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, will preside at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at 11 a.m. The Rite of Committal will be celebrated Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Haverhill, Mass. The Stringer Funeral Home at 146 Broad Street in Claremont has care of the arrangements.
