Samantha McNeel pitched the first game for Newport, striking out six. Stephanie Carl led the offense with two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Emma Carroll scored three times, and McNeel helped herself with one hit, two runs and two RBIs. Kendall Hamilton amassed a team-best five RBIs in the victory.
Carl pitched in the second game, allowing only one hit, one walk and recording nine strikeouts in five innings.
Carroll led the way with three hits, four runs scored and two RBIs, Carl had five RBIs, three hits and three runs scored, Brooke Beaulieu added five runs scored, three hits and four RBIs, and Hailey Perry added one hit and scored a run.
Newport (7-5) has floated around .500 in New Hampshire Division III all season long. The Tigers host Pelham on Friday before ending the season on a four-game road trip starting at Mascoma on Monday.
