ENFIELD — Enfield has been awarded a $734,417 grant to build a parking lot near Mascoma Lakeside Park and to construct a multi-use path from Shakoma Beach parking area to the Enfield Shaker Museum.
The grant is through the National Scenic Byways Program, which is administered through the Department of Transportation. The parking lot and a new sidewalk will be built along Main Street, near Lakeside Park, according to a news release from the town. The funding will also cover a multiuse path that will start at Shakoma Beach’s parking area on Route 4A and continue for one mile to the Enfield Shaker Museum.
“The trail will connect the historic Enfield Shaker Village to the recreation areas along the shores of Mascoma Lake and ultimately to downtown Enfield, increasing access to recreational, cultural and economic development opportunities offered by the town,” Enfield Town Manager Ed Morris said in a news release.
