Tunbridge, Vt. —
He was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Tunbridge the son of Forrest and Jessie (Hoyt) Barnaby. He attended school in Tunbridge before going to work at a young age.
On Dec. 28, 1949, he married Elsie A. Wood and lived all their married life in Tunbridge. Following Elsie’s death Sept. 21, 1999, he lived for over ten years with his long time companion, Alice Oja in Tunbridge. For the last five years he has lived with his son, Kevin.
Levi was a logger for over 50 years. He worked first with his brothers, Edward “Skee” and Richard as Barnaby Brothers Logging, then for many years with just “Skee.” He also logged with Albert Knudsen and later Doug Densmore before he retired.
He is survived by two sons, Kevin W. Barnaby and Elbert “Dick” Barnaby both of Tunbridge; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Barnaby of Tunbridge; two sisters, Beverly Burnor of Windsor, Vt. and Marilyn Vesper of Tunbridge; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Barnaby on Sept. 21, 1999; two brothers, George Barnaby and Richard Barnaby; and three sisters, Bessie Roberts, Evelyn Ritter and Gena Moses.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110, Chelsea, Vt. A funeral service was held on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at 2 p.m. at the Tunbridge Congregational Church in Tunbridge. The burial will be at a later date in the Spring Road Cemetery in Tunbridge.
In lieu of lowers, memorial contributions may be made for a plaque to be given in his memory at the Free For All Horse Pull at the Tunbridge Fair, c/o Horse Pulling Dept., P.O. Box 193, Tunbridge, VT 05077.
