GOP candidate Phil Scott made the announcement after receiving renewed criticism from Vermont Democrats that his business could cause a potential conflict of interest.
Scott is lieutenant governor and has co-owned DuBois Construction for 30 years. He estimated the company gets about 10 to 15 percent of its work from the state.
The candidate made the comments at the 70th anniversary party for DuBois Construction.
Scott said he didn’t want political opponents to drag his family and business through the mud.
Democratic gubernatorial nominee Sue Minter stated that Scott should explain why DuBois Construction received contracts while he served as lieutenant governor.

The Concord Monitor reports that Trump’s payment for the roughly $9,500 bill came after months of silence.
Farmington Town Administrator Arthur Cappello said that the Trump rally used up about 30 percent of the town’s police overtime budget. The newspaper reported that Trump’s campaign had informed the town’s business administrator in January that police should bill the Secret Service, not the campaign. Trump’s bill arrived in mid-September. Trump campaign representatives did not immediately respond to the newspaper’s request for comment.

Police said that Lorrie Valentine of Walpole, N.H., was traveling north on Route 12 when she lost control of her 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Her vehicle then crossed over the southbound lane, struck an embankment and flipped over.
Police responded to the Saturday night crash around 7:48 p.m. Route 12 was closed for 2 hours. Valentine was the only person in the vehicle.
