POST MILLS, VT — Norma C. Clark, 80 died Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born April 14, 1939 in Tunbridge, VT the daughter of Maurice and Clara (Russell) Dezan. She grew up in the Tunbridge/Strafford area with her five brothers and six sisters.
On June 7, 1958 she married Elwin C. “Sarge” Clark of the U.S. Army 1st Aircav Division. While Elwin was stationed in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Asmara, Norma worked at the base hospital and school as one of the Gray Ladies (nurse). They enjoyed traveling to new places, seeing the Shroud of Turin while in the Holy Land and to Jordan where Norma was baptized in the Jordan River. When they returned to the states they made their home in Missouri for a short time before moving to Post Mills in 1971 where they raised their daughter, Lynda.
Norma worked as a sales representative for Green Mountain Studios in Lyme, NH where she traveled to trade shows in New York and Boston. She later worked for the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.
For over 20 years she was a Girl Scout Brownie Leader and organized many overnight and weekend trips to Connecticut and Maine with the help of her co-leader and friend, Yvonne Littlefield. Norma was a member of the Scottish Clan Cummings; Hallock Family Assoc. and American Legion Post #26 & V.F.W. Post #2571 Auxiliary’s. She was a member and deacon of the United Congregational Church of Post Mills. She enjoyed taking many hunting trips all over New England, as well as traveling to Scotland and Montana with her beloved Elwin.
She is survived by her daughter Lynda Hayes and her husband, Greg of Post Mills, VT; grandchildren, Jonathan Hayes, Shannon Hayes, Cindy Bean, Tammy Taylor and Kristy Hill; four great grandchildren; two brothers, John Dezan and Wilbur Dezan; four sisters, Jean Wright, Margaret Atwood, Judith Fogg and Marilyn Rondos; a special niece and grandniece, Bonnie and Abigail McCrillis and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Elwin C. Clark in 2012; three brothers, Joseph Dezan, Richard Dezan and Bobby Dezan and two sisters, Connie Dezan and Sandra Dezan.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the Post Mills Congregational Church in Post Mills from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life service will follow the calling hour at 11:00 a.m. at the Post Mills Congregational Church with Rev. Matthew Von-Berens officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Branch View Cemetery in South Royalton, VT.
