SUNAPEE, NH — On Sunday, August 16th, 2020, Joyce Internicola, Sunapee, loving wife and mother, passed away after a period of extended illness.
Joyce was born on January 9, 1938 in Albany, NY to Constantine and Esther Tutein. She was a graduate of the College of St. Rose. She retired from Sunapee Jr. Sr. High School after many years working in the library. She had a great love of reading as evidenced by the revolving stack of books on her bedside table, and her passion for local book sales. She knew no strangers, and is remembered for her detailed and lively stories. She was an endless source of knowledge, and believed in the “power of the purse” which she took quite literally. If you were ever stranded on a deserted island, you would be lucky to be stranded with Joyce and her Mary Poppins purse.
Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Constantine, her mother, Esther, and brother, John. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 60 years, Joseph, her son Joseph and wife Roberta, her daughter Elizabeth Hoar and husband Stephen, daughter Catherine Page and husband Rodney, daughter Carolyn Kelley and husband Patrick. She is also survived by her grandchildren Nicholas, Carolyn, Miranda, Lindsey, Jacob, Anna, Mary, Marino, James, John, Joseph, Amita, Anastasia, and Robert.
There will be no calling hours. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, August 19th at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice, 107 Newport Road, New London, NH, 03257.
