White River Jct., Vt. — Virginia M. “Ginny” Downer, 75, died Monday, April 30, 2018, at the Berlin Health & Rehab Center in Berlin, Vt.

She was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Randolph, Vt., the daughter of Orlo and Effie (Spencer) Kribstock. She attended Bethel, Vt., schools, where she attended Whitcomb High School before leaving to take care of her sisters, because of her mother’s ill health.

Ginny suffered a stroke at the age of 38, but still enjoyed playing bingo, watching wrestling, all kinds of food, cooking, doing word searches and listening to old country music, especially Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline. She loved her jewelry, especially her watches.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Downer and Michael Downer, both of Tunbridge, Vt.; a brother Peter Johnson of Windsor, Vt., two grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Pixley of Strafford, Vt., Helen Faulk of Louisiana and Linda Derusambeau of Massachusetts. She was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria Eastman and Jaunita Burnham.

There are no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, May 11, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Bethel, with Pastor Tom Harty officiating.  A private message of sympathy for the family can be shared at www.boardwatandcilley.com.
