He was born in Passaic, N.J. on Dec. 10, 1919; the son of Lorenz F. Heil and Hedwig Wenzke Heil. He was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Hill and two sons, James and Frederick. He is survived by his wife Carol J. Heil; and four sons, Stephen, Lee, Kenneth and Eugene; several grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
He spent four years in the U.S. Army as an infantry sergeant in France and Germany in World War II. After the war he ran his own business, the Heil Window Company in Essex Junction, Vt. He liked to say “it has been a long and happy life of learning, but of course, that is never finished.
Graveside memorial services at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
