Hold onto your horses, because AVA Gallery and Art Center in Lebanon has a stampede of art events in the coming days.

Among them is “A Change of Horse,” by the Pennsylvania-based artist Alysa Bennett. The show, which depicts its equine subjects in a range of media, such as feather-sculptures and charcoal drawings, opens Friday with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Bennett will speak at noon on Saturday.

John Kenyon, of West Lebanon, shows portrait paintings of ordinary but inspirational people in a show titled “Life Lessons.” He speaks at 4 p.m. on Friday.

Lebanon photographer Nicholas Gaffney searched for missing-pet signs for the work shown in “Orbiter,” named for an old amusement park ride he came across in Vermont. Gaffney will speak May 5 at 4 p.m.

“Re-Purposed,”an installation by Norwich artist Jay Mead, incorporates discarded lumber and roofing from building projects Mead has worked on. He will speak Monday night at 7:30.

All four shows continue through May 25. “Rain Impressions,” an exhibit of oil paintings by the Chinese artist Ting Zhou, shows through Friday.

The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Arts Program holds a reception this evening from 5 to 6:30 for its spring art exhibition. The show features work by two Upper Valley oil painters, Ludmila Gayvoronsky of Newport, N.H., and Rae Newell of Bridgewater Corners. The other artists are watercolorist Diane Bell of Weston, Vt.; Evelien Bachrach of Hancock, N.H., who works in multiple mediums; acrylics painter Laura Ewing of Cambridge, Mass.; and photographer Ira Gavrin of Marlborough, N.H.

The reception starts at 5 in the Level 4 Mall Lounge of the Lebanon medical campus, near the South Entrance information desk. After artist remarks at 5:30, there will be self-guided art walk until 6:30. Twenty-five percent of sales will go toward the D-H Arts Program.

The annual employee and volunteer art show is also on view.

On Wednesday night from 5 to 7, Chelsea Public Library will hold an opening for “Common Objects and Uncommon Places,” a show of acrylic paintings by the Chelsea artist, and founder of the Chelsea Art Collective, Carrie Caouette-De Lallo. Through June.

The Chelsea Arts Collective is looking for artists to feature in the inaugural Arts on the Green Market & Festival, which is planned for late August. The deadline to submit is May 15.

The Randolph-based Clara Martin Center is seeking submissions for an art and poetry show on the theme of “Abundance: Celebrating Creativity in Mental Health, Wellness and Recovery.”

Barrette Center for the Arts, White River Junction. “VoxSomnium,” an exhibition of mixed-media work by Norwich artist Laura Di Piazza, is presented in conjunction with the Vermont Pastel Society’s group exhibition and Northern Stage, the theater company that calls the Barrette Center home. BigTown Gallery, Rochester, Vt. “Dartmouth Influence,” which exhibits art by 11 women from Dartmouth College’s Studio Art Department, shows through June 30. A reception is planned for May 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Center for the Arts, New London. Exhibits in micro-galleries at Lake Sunapee Bank, the New London Inn and Whipple Hall are on view through April.

Colby-Sawyer College, New London. The senior art exhibition in the Mugar Art Gallery of the Sawyer Fine Arts Center, is on view through May 4. The faculty art exhibition, in the Davidow Gallery at the new Center for Art + Design, continues through May 5. The featured artist is Bert Yarborough, a longtime Colby-Sawyer art professor, who will step down at the end of the semester to return to his studio practice.

Converse Free Library, Lyme. Kathy Swift, of Lyme, shows “Japanese Ink Paintings on Paper” through June 30. Ten percent of sales will go toward Friends of Lyme Library.

Gifford Gallery, Randolph. Watercolors by Killington, Vt. artist Maurie Harrington are on display through Wednesday.

Hopkins Center for the Arts, Hanover. The installation artist Natalie Jeremijenko, who is artist-in-residence in Dartmouth College’s Studio Art Department, shows work in the Jaffe-Friede Gallery through Sunday.

Howe Library, Hanover. Lebanon artist Sue Wheeler’s show of abstract work, “Immersive Tactiles,” is on view in the Ledyard Gallery through Wednesday.

Kilton Public Library, West Lebanon. Artwork by Mount Lebanon Elementary School students will be shown through May.

Library Arts Center, Newport. The Selections Exhibit 2018 shows work by the seven winners of the Library Arts Center’s annual juried regional exhibit: Shari Boraz, Cyn Cooper, Betsy Derrick, Stacy Friedman, Elizabeth R.
