Woodstock — Pentangle Arts, the organization that brings performance arts and cultural events to the greater Woodstock community, is looking for volunteers to hang posters promoting upcoming events.

“Not the most glamorous task, but the least expensive and effective way to get the word out about upcoming events in Woodstock and the surrounding towns,” Serena Nelson, assistant director of the organization, said in a news release.

The organization is looking for five individuals who can spend about 45 minutes a month hanging posters in Barnard, Bridgewater, Hanover, Killington, Lebanon, Quechee, South Woodstock, Reading, White River Junction and West Woodstock. Volunteers will pick up the posters at Pentangle Arts in Woodstock and display them at specific places around town.

In a telephone interview, Nelson said the task is small for individual volunteers, but that having it taken care of allows the staff at Pentangle Arts to focus on bigger projects.

“We’re a staff of two but we do the jobs of four or five people,” she said.

“When volunteers come on board they help us take things off our platter that could detract from us being able to do our jobs well.”

In addition to poster hangers, Pentangle Arts is looking for volunteers to set up and break down the light garden display on the Woodstock Village Green. Setup will take place Sept. 22, from noon until 4 p.m. Cleanup happens on Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The organization is also accepting volunteer ushers for performances. Ushers assist with seating and distributing programs, and are invited to watch the show after.
