Thetford Center, VT – Derrick S. “Rick” Dresser, 71, died unexpectedly in his sleep on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at his home in Thetford Center, VT.
He was born July 6, 1955 in Lebanon, NH the son of Howard E. and Betty (Boyd) Dresser. Growing up in Post Mills, VT he attended school in Thetford graduating in 1973 from Thetford Academy. He later graduated from the New England Tractor Trailer School.
On August 11, 1979 he married Linda Vance of Thetford. They have lived most of their married life in Thetford, where they raised their daughter, Sarah.
Rick was a truck driver, working most of his career for Britton Lumber.
He was a member of the Thetford Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years, and the Upper Valley Fish and Game Club of Thetford.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching NASCAR, races, talking with friends and he loved to work on his truck with his son-in-law.
He is survived by his wife Linda Dresser and his daughter Sarah Tessier and her husband Ethan all of Thetford Center, VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Darrell Dresser and Douglas Dresser, 2 sisters Doreen Dresser and Diane Stone.
A celebration of life gathering will be held Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1-3pm at the Thetford Center Community Building.
