The Dartmouth women’s hockey team put an end to its recent losing streak over the weekend. Coming into Friday’s matchup at home against No. 13 Yale, the Big Green were losers of two in a row after a home-and-home series with Vermont to start the new year.

Dartmouth suffered its third straight loss and fell to the Bulldogs 3-0. However, the Big Green got back to work on Saturday, steadying themselves, playing to a scoreless tie with visiting Brown.
Michaela Hesová had a standout performance in net for Dartmouth with 40 saves. Despite the game counting as a tie for standings purposes, both squads played a shootout, and the Big Green came out on the winning end thanks to a goal from Meredith Jensen.
The Big Green are now 4-13-3 overall and 2-7-3 in conference play. Dartmouth travels to Hamden, Conn., for a battle with Quinnipiac on Friday at 6 p.m. and to Princeton, N.J., to take on Princeton Saturday at 3 p.m.
Hailey Maguire named ECAC Defender of the Month
Last week, the conference honored women’s hockey defenseman Hailey Maguire with the Defender of the Month award for December.
Maguire notched three points during the month, a goal and an assist against Saint Michael’s on Dec. 12 and an assist against Saint Anselm on Dec. 13.
Dartmouth grad to play pro hockey in Switzerland
Laura Fuoco, a 2025 graduate, recently signed a deal with EVZ, a professional women’s hockey team in Switzerland.
Fuoco, who had 28 goals and 35 assists as a member of the Big Green, was an All-Ivy honorable mention as a senior.
She was also a finalist for the Mandi Schwartz Scholar-Athlete of the Year award as a senior, which is given to a women’s hockey player in the ECAC “who most embodies Mandi Schwartz’s excellence and leadership on the ice, in the classroom, and in the community,” per the conference’s website.
Dartmouth grad to compete at the Olympics again
Laura Stacey, who graduated from the college in 2016, will represent the Canadian women’s hockey team at this winter’s Olympics in Italy.
This will be Stacey’s third appearance at the Olympics. She won silver with Canada in 2018 and gold in 2022.
Stacey currently plays for the Montreal Victoire in the PWHL and, as a member of the Big Green, notched 87 points.
Men’s basketball keeps on rolling
The Big Green won their third game in a row on Saturday, going on the road and beating Cornell 102-91.
Jayden Williams led the scoring for the Big Green with 24 points. Connor Amundsen, who was named Co-Ivy League Player of the Week, and Brandon Mitchell-Day each had a double-double — the former with 23 points and 10 assists and the latter with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
With the win, the Big Green are now 2-0 in the Ivy League and 8-7 overall. They host Penn on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Princeton on Monday at 6 p.m.
Men’s and women’s track wins Ivy vs. America East Challenge
The Big Green men and women performed well at the meet hosted by Dartmouth, with both squads coming in first.
For the women, Andie Murray won the 500-meter, Emmy Thornton won the 800-meter, Claire McDonald won the 3000-meter, and Mariella Schweitzer won the 60-meter hurdles.
Winners in field events included Charlotte DiRocco in the high jump, Ellison Weiner in the pole vault, Kylee Bennett in the weight throw, and Žaneta Pivcová in the shot put.
As for the men’s track events, Jack Rousseau won the 400-meter, Noe Kemper won the 800-meter, and Michael Bueker, Keion Grieve, Jack Inglis, and Jack Intihar won the 4×4 relay.
In field events, David Adams won the pole vault, Intihar won the long jump, Roy Leibovitz won the triple jump, and Colton McMaster won the weight throw and shot put.
Both squads travel to Yale for meets on Saturday.
Men’s swimming and diving falls to Penn and Yale
The Big Green fell to Penn 184-116 and to Yale 218-82 in Philadelphia, Pa., over the weekend.
Despite the loss, Dartmouth had some solid performances from its athletes. Andrew Chou broke Penn’s pool record in the 100-meter backstroke, Tommy Erwin beat Penn in the 1,000-meter freestyle, and Jacob Turner also beat Penn in the 200-meter individual medley.
Additionally, Everett Tai and Aryeh Lesch beat out Penn in the one-meter dive.
The Big Green, now 0-6 overall and in conference play, hosts UMass on Friday and Saturday in the Tate Ramsden Invitational.
Women’s swimming and diving also suffer losses to Penn and Yale
The Big Green suffered defeat at the hands of Penn 231-69 and to Yale 201.5-97.5 this past weekend in Philadelphia, Pa.
Highlights include Maggie Lambdin winning the three-meter dive, Carinn Bethea finishing second overall in the 100-meter freestyle, and the 200-meter medley relay team of Sena Bozkurt, Kathy Jia, Lane Murray, and Bethea having a top-10 finish in program history.
The Big Green, now 1-5 overall and in conference play, hosts UMass and Northeastern for the Tate Ramsden Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Football athletes earn more honors
Konstantin Spörk, Joe Onuwabhagbe, Will Prince, Owen Zalc, Andy Belles, Harrison Keith, and Luke Armistead were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District University Team.
Those selected to the team needed to appear in 90% of games or start 66% of them, and have a GPA of 3.5 or higher for a full year.
Additionally, offensive lineman Delby Lemieux has been invited to the Panini Senior Bowl, which is scheduled for Jan. 31 in Mobile, Ala.
The Senior Bowl’s website describes the game as “The premier college football all-star game and the official first step in the NFL Draft process,” adding, “For more than 76 years, Mobile, Alabama has proudly hosted this historic event, making it the longest continually running all-star game in football.”
Ava Thurston named Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association Nordic Skier of the Week
Thurston earned the honor due to her standout performance at the Saint Lawrence Carnival earlier this month.
On Jan. 4, Thurston won the 10K Classic (29:48.8) and on Jan. 6 won the freestyle sprint (3:15.61).
Jason Tapp wins Terry Flanagan Award
The American Hockey Coaches Association named Tapp the Big Green’s Associate Head Coach, who has been with Dartmouth since 2020, the recipient of the award, which, according to a release from the college, “honors an assistant coach’s career body of work.”
Before Dartmouth, Tapp coached at Union for 11 seasons. He is the fourth individual who has coached for the Big Green to earn the award.
