WEATHERSFIELD — Two weeks after a fatal head-on collision occurred on Route 106, the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim as a 47-year-old woman from Springfield, Vt.

Vicky Butterfield was driving a 2014 Hyundai Sonata when it collided with a a 2016 Audi Q3 driven by 21-year-old Brandon Rodriguez of Wethersfield, Conn., on Friday, Dec. 5, a little after 5 p.m., according to a Friday news release from the Sheriff’s Department.

The collision took place on Route 106 “between the gun range and Stoughton Pond,” the release said.

Butterfield died on the way to Springfield Hospital “despite lifesaving efforts,” police said.

Rodriguez and his two passengers received minor injuries and were treated at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.

Weather and road conditions were clear, the release said.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time and the cause of the crash has not been released. The incident remains under investigation, Windsor County Sheriff Ryan Palmer said.

The Springfield Police Department and the Vermont State Police Crash Reconstruction and Drone teams are assisting.

“We’re in the middle of our investigation and we don’t have a whole lot of information to provide other than what we’ve released already,” Palmer said Monday.

The department expects to complete the investigation “sometime in the next couple weeks,” Palmer said.

Reached by phone on Monday, a member of Butterfield’s family declined to comment and requested privacy.
