NORWICH — Southbound traffic on Interstate 91 through Norwich was diverted for 90 minutes on Monday afternoon as state troopers responded to the scene of a crash at Exit 13.
An 80-year-old female driver from Pittsfield, Vt., was attempting to enter the southbound lane onto I-91 and failed to stop at the end of the on-ramp where she was sideswiped by an oncoming vehicle driven by a 62-year-old male from Perkinsville, Vermont State Police said in a news release.
Both vehicles received extensive front-end damage, but neither driver sustained injuries, the news release reported. They were both wearing seat belts.
The scene of the accident is a highway construction project where the right lane of the southbound route of I-91 has been closed and the on-ramp feeds into a single lane on the left side.
